Terms of Service
Last updated 21 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the SayLess macOS application, the sayless.club website, and the optional SayLess account (together, "the service"). By using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What SayLess is
SayLess is a dictation and meeting-notes app that runs on your Mac. Your dictations, transcripts, and notes are stored on your own computer, not on our servers. The app works without an account; an account is optional and adds only what is described below and in the privacy policy.
Beta software
SayLess is in active development and currently free while in beta. Features may change, be added, or be removed. If paid tiers are introduced, nothing will start costing money silently: pricing will be published here and in the app before anything is charged.
Your account
Signing in creates a SayLess account, either through an identity provider you choose (currently Google) or through a six-digit code emailed to you. There is no password at any point. If you sign in through a provider, you are responsible for the security of that provider account; if you sign in by code, you are responsible for access to that mailbox. You can sign out at any time in the app, which deletes the session from your Mac; to have the account itself deleted, email privacy@sayless.club.
Included model access
A signed-in account may generate a limited number of meeting notes each week using SayLess's own model access, as shown in the app. This allowance exists so the app can be tried honestly, not resold: automating, sharing, or circumventing the limit is not permitted, and we may reduce, change, or suspend the allowance — or an account that abuses it — to keep it available for everyone. When the allowance is exhausted or unavailable, the app falls back to its local summary and says so.
Your content
What you dictate and record is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to it beyond the minimum needed to operate a feature you invoke — for example, transiently relaying a transcript to a model provider when you generate a hosted note. As described in the privacy policy, hosted generations pass through and are not stored by us.
Your responsibilities
- Recording other people may require their knowledge or consent where you live. SayLess shows a visible indicator and asks for confirmation before capture, and provides no hidden recording mode; complying with the law where you are is your responsibility.
- If you configure your own AI provider keys, your contract with those providers governs the data you send them and what you owe them.
- Do not use the service to break the law, to infringe others' rights, or to probe, overload, or interfere with the service itself.
Model output
Transcription and generated notes come from speech recognition and language models. They can be wrong. SayLess is built to cite its sources and show its gaps, but you are responsible for checking anything that matters before you rely on it. Nothing the service produces is professional advice.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business, arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including, for consumers in the European Union, your mandatory statutory rights, and liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health.
Termination
You can stop using SayLess at any time; your local data stays on your Mac and remains yours. We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms. The app's local features continue to work without any account.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, the date above changes and the new version is published here before it applies. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country you live in.
